Rhapsody Dance Project
Spring 2022
Rhapsody Dance Project came into fruition in the spring of 2022, born from a passion for movement, artistic expression, and a desire to create meaningful opportunities for dancers to grow and connect through the art of dance. What began as a vision soon blossomed into a project dedicated to celebrating creativity, fostering community, and inspiring dancers to explore their individuality while sharing their love of movement.

Celebrate Summer
New Dundee Bandshell, New Dundee, ON - July 2022
For Rhapsody Dance Project's first show, a group of six dancers collaborated on a performance with Carousel Dance Centre. The group performed two contemporary pieces; one choreographed by the co-founders and the other by guest choreographer Eliza Mills.

Summer Showcases
July 2023 - Present
Rhapsody Dance Project’s summer showcases allow dancers to collaborate on a full-length showcase. A large group with a broad range of dance backgrounds comes together to create a diverse performance. Participants can choose styles they are interested in, and how many numbers they’d like to perform in. All dancers in the program perform together in a large group number, and solos, small group, and large group choreography opportunities are open to everyone in the program. The group performs a wide range of styles, such as jazz, contemporary, ballet, hip hop, and more. Guest choreographers have been involved in the summer showcases for group numbers.

The second piece featured eight dancers, performing choreography by Tara Butler which was originally performed by sixteen dancers at RDP’s 2024 Sine Tempore showcase. Butler’s piece centred on the theme of support and connection and the building of such systems throughout life.

Intersections - A Laurier Music Collaboration
The Registry Theatre, Kitchener, ON - January 2026
The performance brought together eighteen dancers and students from Laurier’s music program for a unique creative collaboration. Facilitated by the co-directors, dancers worked together to choreograph pieces set to music composed by the students, with some musicians developing their original compositions alongside the choreography. The showcase featured a mix of recorded and live music performed by the music students, creating opportunities for innovative artistic partnerships. Highlights included a ballet solo accompanied by a tuba, a musical duet featuring a Game Boy, choreography set to live spoken word, and a duet performed alongside a live rock band playing an original song. While the program focused primarily on contemporary dance, it also incorporated tap, jazz, and ballet. View our performance here.
